High Praise for Tree Program

Jul 2024Quarterly Newsletter

The Land Bank has been working with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for the past few years to restore the tree canopy in urban neighborhoods.

Through the Tree Equity Reforestation Program, they have partnered to plant 132 trees in eligible Montgomery County neighborhoods.

County residents who live in eligible neighborhoods may order one of four types of trees and have it planted on their property for free. In exchange, the property owner commits to care for the young tree. Here’s what TERP participants are saying about their experience with the program:

I received my tree a couple of weeks ago. I just wanted to let the Land Bank know that the installation was wonderful, the crew was professional and did a great job. We are so glad we participated in this program! Thank you! — Rachel

Just wanted to give you a big ‘thank you’ for my tree and let you know the guys did a great job! I appreciated all their work. I’m going to take special care of it, as it is going to be called ‘Diddy’s tree.’ Thanks again! — Betsy B.

The program is really helpful for a new homeowner like me! I am excited to watch the tree grow and it already has flowers blooming within two months of planting.

The three people who planted the tree were very kind and left me the dirt from the space they dug up, and I was able to use it for more plants in my home. I hope the tree program expands into more varieties and even more Ohio counties! — Mackenzie S.
