The Ohio Land Bank Association’s annual conference recently held in Dayton was a “resounding success,” according to association Executive Director Shawn Carvin.
“We had an amazing turnout, and Dayton’s hospitality and facilities were incredible,” he said.
Not only were its 337 participants educated about tools available, lessons learned and best land bank practices, but they also experienced – many for the first time – Dayton’s warm and welcoming vibe.
With the support of generous sponsors, the Land Bank and OLBA were able to elevate the event from just another conference to “easily the best one I’ve attended to date,” according to one participant, whose sentiments were echoed by others. Several remarked they were surprised the Dayton area has so much to offer, and they left no longer thinking of it as a “drive-by city,” but a destination to return to and explore.
“The Montgomery County Land Bank and their stakeholders were invaluable in planning and executing the conference,” Carvin said. “We look forward to seeing the conference in Dayton again in the future.”
